Best Noise Cancelling Headphones
|
Boys and Girls
Sounds like it defeats the object of having them.
Had a pair of Bose Ones, but now somewhere in the Thames,..(long story but involves beer)
Looking to get a new pair and like the sound of
Sony WH-1000XM4 ones.
Bit pricey, but so long as I don't get go near water.
Any recommendations?
I don't the ones you stick in your ears as I have funny shaped lug holes.
Cheers.. Which magazine, I mean Who

I will be watching this thread with interest.
I have a splendid pair of Audio Technica wireless headphones for listening to music, but I would really like a brilliant, specialist set of wireless noise-cancelling ones for the commute, office, flights, etc. I don't always want to listen to music to drown out noise. Often I want silence. Especially to drown out my colleagues' incessant fucking rabbiting.

I have a pair of Bowers and Wilkins P7's (non noise cancelling) and they're superb. If the PX7's are anywhere near as good you won't be disappointed: https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/bowers-and-wilkins-px7-review

Any reason you need noise cancelling ones? I have the Sony’s and they are ok but far from my favourite pair of phones for music. Grado kill them but are wired, spilly and not noise cancelling.

I've got those Bose noise cancelling headphones, but I bought some B&O ear buds that are also noise cancelling, and they are just as good and less obtrusive. I hardly use the Bose ones now.

The little carrying pod is also a recharger for the earphones, gives you a bit extra battery life while you are out

Sony are way better than Bose sound quality wise, for all things headphone wise check out Head-Fi (links below).
Full-size headphones: https://www.head-fi.org/forums/headphones-full-size.4/
Portable Heasdpones & IEM's: https://www.head-fi.org/forums/portable-headphones-earphones-and-in-ear-monitors.103/
shame you can't wear IEM's, the ultimate in noise-cancelling.

I can't keep the Apple buds in my lugs, but the B&O ones fit perfectly.
I'd recommend them if you find that they fit and they'd be perfect for blotting out background noise, without any music playing.

I tested various on ear headphones before I finally bought my Bose QC 35’s, to me they sounded the best, some say Sony are better and B&W get a shout but they didn’t quite cut it for me.

Had a pair of Grado SR125's (iirc) prior to my B&W's Lasted six months. The foam covers literally began to fall apart and all components were plastic and began to dismantle after about 6 months. Fantastic sound quality but diabolical build quality. Also open-backed so leaked sound like a sieve. Not even sure they make noise cancelling models, apart from in-ear.

Another vote for the Bose QC35’s - had them for a couple of years and they’re excellent
